Description

Another pony in the 'art styles' series, this one my vague attempt at sumi-e water painting. While I don't think I'll be leaving my ponies for this art, I do like how this pony came out, especially as a full composition. She took me very little time (comparatively) to put together, but I'm still pleased. Since I used my favorite crimson paint as opposed to a 'true' red the cranes' and pony's forehead markings are bit on the pink side, but I like how striking they are. Luckily for me the leftover hair from the Red Lotus pony was a perfect match color wise, so I was able to carry the paint colors to the hair. Acrylics, being water based, mimicked the qualities of water paints nicely, at least in the small amount I need them to. Her white hair is a more silvery, translucent white than that of the Danse Macabre pony, which is why in some of the pictures it appears to be black and pink in places: it reflects the colors of things around it. I even tried to do her eyes in a form of 'water color' style, which is why the black center is not a perfect black and the colored parts are a different shape than I normally do. This was a very experimental, fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants pony, and I think she'll be counted as a success.

As sumi-e is a Japanese art, her cranes are as well.

Note: this pony has been created for an art show in October and may be sold there. If you are interested in purchasing this pony if doesn't sell at the show, note me and I will contact you after the show if I still have it.
