Custom MLP - Strength

I am a terrible person. Why? This pony was supposed to be done a year ago. A YEAR AGO. God, I suck. XP


This is the MLP version of Strength, a tarot-card based character of Iris Virus's from a Gaian breedables shop. I'm being terribly clear, aren't I? She's based partly on Iris's concept drawing, partly on the character's original art, and the rest is my attempt to make it all translate into a pony. I think it went fairly well. I had a lot of fun doing her white blanket and blaze markings, doing them free hand and being careful where I put more than one layer of white in an attempt to make them look more natural than not. The leaf cutie mark on her hoof which you can't really see was lots of fun, but her parrot symbol almost killed me. Most of the time I can get away with not being an expert painter on my ponies, but not so much on this one. Oh well. The owner likes it. And since this is one of the ponies where you have to paint the shape of everything you're going to do in color in white first to have a canvas of sorts, this took awhile.

Strength seems to be an outdoorsy, wild child type, so she has lots of brains and fun beads in her hair. She also wears a few bits of leather, has a leather feather in her mane, and I had entirely too much fun making all of it. I used subtle touches of pearlizing medium to highlight her eyes, symbol, and a few white spots, because hey, tarot cards are usually fancy affairs. She also sports a small roman numeral eight below her left eye, since that's the numeral on her card of origin.
